Medical & treatment disclaimer

Last revised: August 2026

Complementary therapy only

Hijama (wet or dry cupping) is a complementary therapy. It is not a medical treatment, not a diagnosis, and not a replacement for care from a qualified medical doctor. Nothing on this platform — articles, guides, videos or practitioner profiles — is medical advice. Always consult your doctor about existing conditions, and never stop or adjust prescribed medication because of a hijama session.

When to avoid or delay hijama

Cupping may not be suitable if you are pregnant or nursing, take blood-thinning medication, have a bleeding disorder, uncontrolled diabetes, active skin infection, severe anaemia, or have recently had surgery. This list is not exhaustive — the health declaration you complete before booking exists so your practitioner can assess your situation, and their professional judgement (or your doctor’s) always takes priority.

Independent practitioners

Practitioners listed on Hijama Mauritius are independent providers, not employees or agents of the platform. Listings are reviewed before publication, but the platform does not perform treatments, supervise sessions, or guarantee outcomes. Any treatment decision is made between you and your practitioner.

Emergencies

If you experience severe pain, dizziness, signs of infection or any medical emergency after a session, seek medical attention immediately — in Mauritius call SAMU on 114 or go to your nearest hospital. Do not rely on this website or on WhatsApp messages for urgent care.
